This is Dakgalbi (chicken ribs), a specialty dish from Chuncheon.
The first time I ate Dakgalbi goes back to my time in the military. I was stationed in Yanggu, and in a restaurant right in front of the unit, they served a pan-fried dish that was purely chicken and sauce, with absolutely no other ingredients. I still recall that taste from time to time.
Perhaps because I was in the military, it tasted incredibly delicious. So, today, I'm going to try making Chuncheon Dakgalbi.
1. Rub the sauce into the cut chicken. I had the butcher cut the chicken for me. The sauce contains various ingredients such as gochujang, chili powder, oyster sauce, soy sauce, corn syrup, sugar, grated garlic, ginger, onion, green onion, pepper, salt, mirin, and sesame oil. After mixing all the ingredients, let it marinate for about an hour to allow the flavors to penetrate.
2. Next, heat salad oil in a large frying pan and arrange the chicken, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and tteokbokki rice cakes.

3. Chuncheon Dakgalbi is complete.

4. Plated and snapped a picture.

5. Oh, I forgot the soju. It was too much for one person, so I gave up on making fried rice. I plan to reheat and eat it again tomorrow.
